Thank you for volunteering your time to enrich our students’ learning experiences. The application to volunteer is electronic and can be accessed by using any device connected to the Internet. As a reminder, all volunteer approvals will expire on June 30 of each year, requiring volunteers to renew.

The health and well-being of all staff, students and visitors is a top priority for Volusia County Schools.  The district will continue to monitor best practices outlined by the CDC and governmental health agencies.

The school board voted on June 14, 2021 to make face-coverings optional and voluntary at schools and other Volusia County Schools facilities, effective immediately.  Volunteers, students and VCS employees who would like to continue wearing appropriate face-coverings can do so.

VCS has strict safety and security practices and requires volunteers to sign in on the visitor management system (Raptor kiosk) or at the front desk.  When visiting a school for the first time, a driver’s license or other form of official government identification must be provided.

Every volunteer must have an approved application on file to volunteer.

  • Each year, all volunteer applications expire on June 30.
  • Volunteers must reapply on or after July 1.
  • Approvals for the 2021-22 school year will be valid through June 30, 2022.
  • The volunteer application can be completed online.

It is very important that the information you enter on the application matches your government issued identification card including your full legal name. It is important that you provide a valid email address so you can be notified as to the status of your application and for future communication.
The first time you volunteer at a school, please be prepared to have your ID scanned into our system.

Sugar Mill is a Golden School Award Winner!

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you must complete a Volusia County Volunteer Form. This also applies to chaperoning a field trip. Allow two weeks for the clearance process. The volunteer forms can be found in the main office.

You may also call Sugar Mill's main office at (386) 322-6171 for more information.

Once your application has been approved you must sign in and out in the main office each time you visit Sugar Mill. A name badge is required for all visitors and volunteers.

We offer a special thank you to all of our volunteers. The time you give is greatly appreciated by our teachers, staff and students.
